Amendment Bill of Immigration Control and Refugee Recognition Act

On March 15, the Cabinet approved a bill to partially revise the Immigration Control and Refugee Recognition Act and the Act on the Proper Implementation of Technical Intern Training for Foreign Nationals and the Protection of Technical Intern Trainees, which was then submitted to the Diet.

One of the main purposes of the bill is to abolish the current technical internship system and create a new "training and employment system (育成就労)," which is being discussed in the current Diet session. The bill also aims to enable the authority to revoke the "Permanent Resident" status of residence of those holders who intentionally fail to pay taxes and social insurance contributions and fail to comply with certain rules set out in the law.

The bill (Japanese) is available on the Ministry of Justice website.
